Miller Park Elementary After-School Program
During the summer of 2005, COR learned that the Miller Park Community Learning Center 2005-2006 after school program, serving 100-120 students, was being eliminated due to lack of funds. These precious children with whom we have built a five year relationship continue to be challenged by living in a neighborhood of drugs, high crime and school drop out rates. COR felt called to work with the Miller Park children. After a year of offering after-school enrichment programs and a weekly meal to just a handful of children, we are currently runnng a before and after school program for approximately 80 children, five days a week. This offers an opportunity for our neighborhood chidlren to safely transition to and from school and provides academic support and enrichment opportunities otherwise not available to them. The paid staff consists of a full-time Site-Supervisor, a paid part time Program Coordinator, six certified teachers, six paras and a host of volunteers.

Read more on the Sudanese Mission page of this website! Rev. Daniel has faithfully spent five years pursuing his vision to build a ministry in his beloved Sudan. This past year, Rev. Daniel has seen his dream go from the planning stages to the initial implementation stages with the building of the Boma Compound. Boma is made up of six separate districts, and approximately 300,000 people, in the southeast corner of the Sudan. These districts have been minimally introduced to Christianity. The Boma Compound will be a centralized facility for visitors and volunteers: a recruiting and training center for clergy, teachers and medical professionals, managed by paid on-site personnel, working together to live the Gospel and to “Tell the Jesus Story.” The first phase of the project is building the Conference Center, which will be the heart of the compound that will serve the six districts of the Boma area. This is where the volunteers will be trained and housed, until funding is available for additional staff facilities.
In Decemeber, Father Daniel made the major purchase of a dump truck, to move building materials to Boma to continue the building of the conference center. Funding for the truck came from the Diocese of Nebraska's Alleluia Fund. He receives support from parishes, dicoese and individuals across the country to continue his mission work, while CORE provides him with housing and a home-base for his ministry.
